PRIVACY NOTICE

The processing of personal data is regulated by the Data Protection Act 1998, and as from 25 May 2018, by the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).    This governs how we hold and process your personal information.

The Sands Cox Charity recognises that your personal privacy and the security of your personal information is extremely important.   

For purposes of the GDPR the Executive Secretary acts as Data Controller and Data Processor in relation to personal data which we process for membership.

We process your information on the lawful basis of legitimate interests for effective running of The Sands Cox Charity.

The Privacy Notice sets out :

  • How we use your information; and

  • The new rights you have in relation to your information

How we use your information

We use information about you and other members for the purposes of carrying out the following:

  • to help you learn more about the charitable works that you support,

  • enable The Sands Cox Charity to provide Bursaries to the University of Birmingham Medical and Dental Students, 

  • give you news and information via the annual Journal Aesculapius and the Website.  Also, we may contact you from time to time by post, phone, email, or other electronic means.

Your rights in relation to your information

We respect your rights and retain a record of your personal information to give you consistent service.  We will always retain your personal information in accordance with the law and regulations and never retain your information for longer than is necessary.

  • you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you and a description of how we use that information;

  • if you believe any information we hold about you may be inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to ask us to correct any inaccuracies;

  • if your personal details change at any time, please inform us as soon as possible to ensure that all information held about you remains accurate and up to date;

  • you have the right to ask us to erase your information if we are not entitled to use it anymore;

  • we will not divulge any of your information to a third party, unless we contact you for your explicit consent prior to sharing personal information.
