Dental Graduates of 1948

1948 – Dental year

Eleven dental graduates and partners gathered at the Moat House Hotel, Solihull on Friday, 17th October 2003 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of their qualification.

Cliff Ramcharan and his wife Wendy came all the way from Trinidad specially for the occasion, not having seen most of the other attendees since 1978. Old friendships were soon renewed, and news exchanged and updated.

A memorabilia display jogged lots of memories and anecdotes of the original alma mater, the Dental Hospital in Great Charles Street, Birmingham. Dental Mechanics training and conditions, the teaching staff, demonstrators and lecturers, not to mention student escapades prompted a wealth of reminiscences.

A champagne reception preceded an excellent dinner and a memorable evening of nostalgia and fellowship was enjoyed by all. A newsletter for each graduate filled in some of the gaps of those who were unable to attend, several sadly, with health problems. We remembered all the absent friends, and hope to renew acquaintance in possibly two years time. So look out for the invitation to the event which Peters Bailey and Packwood are hoping to organise.

Those present were: Peter Bailey and Mrs K. Bailey, Pam Baker-Clare, Mark Bloom, Howard Carrington and Mrs A. C. Carrington, Don Foster, Vera Foster, Don Mole and Mrs I. Fleming, Neville Noble and Mrs H. Noble, Peter Packwood, Cliff Ramcharan and Mrs W. Ramcharan, Roger Swift and Mrs B. Swift.
